We recommend
that you should visit your dentist every six
months. A very small number of patients who have
an excellent oral hygiene regime need only yearly
visits.
Regular visits are important
because we will check every aspect of your
oral health. This starts with your tongue,
palate and other soft tissues. The mouth is
well supplied with soft tissue areas and this
makes it an ideal “window” into
your general health. We are looking for healthy
pink tissues and any early signs of more serious
problems such as ulcerated and “unusual” patches.
Mouth cancers, sadly, are on the increase and
are one of the most fatal of cancers.
During this visit we can investigate any dental
problems you may have, discuss any cosmetic treatments
you might be interested in and take routine x-rays
about once every 12-24 months.
Most patients will benefit from a visit to the
Hygienist. She will remove hard deposits, ie
tartar /calculus which cannot be brushed off.
She will check your gums, measure pocket depths
around the gums and advise you on how to look
after your teeth and gums.
