When a tooth
is severely broken down it becomes impossible
to restore by filling it. In such cases and where
there is a sufficiently good roots we can offer
a crown. The tooth is cut and shaped to form
a solid base and an impression taken to be sent
to the laboratory. The lab makes a crown to match
the shade of the existing teeth and this is then
fitted to the prepared base. The roots and base
of your tooth remain in place but the crown is
like a brand new tooth!
Crowns can
be made of gold throughout, a gold core with
a ceramic covering, or an all ceramic crown which
is very difficult to tell apart from a natural
tooth.
